Synopsis

Marchant Radcliffe, owner of the exclusive Love Inc. brothel outside Vegas, is no stranger to darkness. He lost his sister in childhood and his parents in college. Since his best friend helped him finance the Love Inc. ranch almost ten years ago, Marchant has drowned himself in business—and he’s thrived, despite the heavy secret that has plagued him since his parents’ deaths.

Then, after ten years of good fortune, Marchant’s skeletons start to peek out of the closet, tossing him down a trail of ruin that begins with arson and could end with murder. Because he’s kept his struggles private, he has no one to pull him back from the brink.

Except for Suri Dalton.

After a breakup with her longtime fiancé, Suri, the daughter of one of Silicon Valley’s tech tycoons, has nowhere to go except her BFF’s new penthouse in Las Vegas. The last thing Suri is looking for is a man, but after drowning her woes in wine on the flight over, she stumbles into a torrid make out session with a beautiful stranger—who just so happens to be Marchant Radcliffe, a playboy and a literal pimp.

Despite an immediate attraction, Suri writes Marchant off as exactly the sort of guy she should avoid. Until Love Inc. goes up in flames, Marchant winds up at the bottom of a swimming pool, and Suri is the only one around to pull him out.

What happens when what you see isn’t what you get? What do you do when destiny is too alluring to resist and too dangerous to survive?

Synopsis:

For twenty-three years, Cross Carlson was a playboy. You know the type. Tall, dark, and wealthy. Blue-eyed. Charming. He seemed to have it all so easy. But Cross was harboring a terrible secret - one that helped ruin the life of an innocent girl and almost ended his own.

Finally out of the hospital, Cross is flailing, scarred in both body and mind and stifled by the weight of the secret he still keeps. The only way to absolution lies in a Mexican convent, and going there could cost him everything.

If there's anyone who knows what it's like to screw up big time, it's Meredith Kinsey. Just a few years ago, Merri was an ordinary girl with a job at her college newspaper and white picket fence kind of dreams. ~MY REVIEW~
“Sometimes good people make mistakes. You know how you can tell if you're one of the good ones?” “No,” she whispers, tiny in the dark. “Because good people feel guilty afterward.”
(Thank you to Ella's Publicist, Rachel, for providing a copy to read and review!)

I have to say that I was excited to start Taming Cross since the moment I found out that Cross would have his own book! :D Although we didn't get much of him in Selling Scarlett I did love the parts he was in and was interested in knowing his story. And it was just as great as the first book in the Love Inc. series!

After suffering through a devastating accident and waking up from a coma Cross Carlson is left with much more scars than the physical. Months later Cross is struggling to accept his new situation and is pretty depressive. And there is the fact that he has been keeping his fathers secret for so long that the guilt is killing him. When he takes matters into his own hand he goes in search of Misty and is set on saving her. Even if he isn't 100% psychically able to. And when he finds "Misty" Cross finds much more than he might have bargained for.

Meredith has been hiding from the Cartel and the man that she was sold to for a while. But when they discover where she is and start to attack the people she cares about Merri decides to go back. Her story isn't the one that everyone thinks it is. She has made decisions that ruined her life but Merri's heart is in the right place and all she wishes for is a better future where she isn't afraid all the time. Love, family and happiness is the one thing she think she can never have. Until Cross rescues her and shows her that she is worth saving.
"He leans in close enough to steal the air out of my lungs and presses a kiss against my forehead. “And that’s why I can’t walk away, even though I know I should. My father might have found you first, but you were always mine.”
Along the way the two fight tooth and nail to escape the clutches of the cartel. But they also find in each other something they have never thought they deserved. A second chance at life.

Pick up the second installment of Love Inc. and enjoy Cross's story!!

Selling Scarlett by Ella James

Selling Scarlett (Love Inc., #1)
Book Description:

Elizabeth DeVille doesn't belong at a party like this—one where the gowns cost more than her Camry and cigars run higher than her grad school utility bills. Dragged out of seclusion by her best friend Suri, Elizabeth is merely playing dress-up, rubbing elbows with a crowd that banished her troubled family years ago.

Hunter West is tired. Tired of parties, tired of pretending, and tired of trying to right a wrong that haunts him every day. Bourbon heir and professional poker player by day, by night Hunter is gambling with his life in a high-stakes game of crime and blackmail.

When Elizabeth stumbles into Hunter's den of vices, she's a light in the darkness, a flame in the void. And, just like everything he touches, Hunter mars her in a record time. To rectify the damage done, Elizabeth needs money she doesn't have, and she's come up with a foolproof way to get it.

Follow Elizabeth—code-named Scarlett—to the lush Nevada brothel where she'll auction her virginity and risk the only thing that's not for sale: her heart. The highest bidder is a familiar face, with wicked hands and the devil's mouth. And a secret so dark that it could cost her life.

***RECOMMENDED FOR READERS 17+ DUE TO SEXUALITY AND MATURE LANGUAGE.***

Christina's BookReview
“It dawns on me that most people would probably be happy with my weekend. I just won five million dollars. But one of the strange things about being rich as shit is five million's just not that exciting.”

RECAP

Elizabeth Deville doesn't party and definitely doesn't socialize with the elite's of Love Inc. Then her best friend needs her help, but her money is going to her mother's rehab. How is a girl suppose to get the money to save her best friend?

When the idea presents itself Elizabeth jumps at the opportunity. Scarlett is born and will be sold to the highest bidder for one night. But Elizabeth doesn't count on being involved in the mayhem that's going on at Love Inc. One that includes the guy she has had the hots for. One that sets her body and soul on fire.

Hunter West is above everything. His life is a constant bore. But when one of his "ladies" goes missing Hunter's life takes a turn for the worse.Someone is framing him and he worries for the green eye beauty he feels undeniable attraction for. Especially when she is absurd enough to get involved in his life.

Is Elizabeth way in over her head? Who will be the highest bidder? Will Elizabeth make it out of Love Inc. alive?

MY TAKE

Selling Scarlet was pretty much unlike anything I've read. The first thing that caught my attention with this book was the cover and title. After I read the synopsis I knew I had to read it. It was different and it was a good read.

Elizabeth is wealthy, but not. Her father's money has gone to helping her mother get through her addiction which leaves Elizabeth in financial distress. When Cross, her best friend, is in an accident she comes up with a way to help him by doing something she has never in her wildest dreams thought she would do. Elizabeth sells her virginity to the highest bidder. That in itself made me like Liz. Yes, it was extremely crazy and outrageous, but it also shows us how devoted she is to the people she loves. I do have to say that her obsession with Hunter was a little extreme and I wanted to smack her many times but her good outweighed her bad.

And Hunter. OMG Hunter!! He is fifty shades of fucked up. And yes there were many fifty references which totally earned lots of eyes rolls from me. But my goodness! The man was a walking, talking sex God! But unlike a certain you know who, Hunter was this great guy that was given a bad draw. Even though what he allowed to happen should have disgusted me I just felt pretty much sad for him. I was rooting for Elizabeth to get through that thick head of his and show him that he was worth it.

All the secondary characters were great as well. The friends you adored and the villains you wanted to choke the life out of. Mrs. James gives us what I think might be the hard cold truth about the "escort" world and it was pretty impressive. One character that I really liked was Cross and I won't say much about him but I will say that I cannot wait to read his story next.

Now why only the 4 star you ask? Well because sadly there were a lot of grammatical errors that drove me nuts, I thought that the "bidding' scene was worked up to be this great event and it was like three sentences long, and the end was just too fast and too easily wrapped up.But all in all a great book.

Buy it. Read it. Love it.

Before You Go by Ella James

 Book Description:

Margo Ford just became an heiress. Not the Paris Hilton kind. Her billions came after her father died and her insanely wealthy, insanely absent mother officially claimed her. Unfortunately, some terrorists noticed, and they hatched a plot to kidnap her. After a news report goes awry, reporting that Margo *has* been kidnapped, and her mother offers the humiliating sum of $500,000 for her return, Margo doesn't want anything to do with her *#$!@ of an egg donor. Then she is sentenced to a summer of "protection" on her mother's private island. Not the Oprah Winfrey kind. This one has an astronomical observatory filled with scientists, including Logan Greer, a super hot, super infuriating planet-hunter. Hiding out from kidnappers has never been so boring... until suddenly it isn't anymore.

Christina's BookReview
Margo is sent to Isis to be protected from a threat of kidnapping. After her fathers death she is hoping to have that time to get to know the mother that had abandoned her. Unfortunately, Cindy, Margo's mother, isn't looking for any mother/daughter time. When Margo has no one to turn to on Isis she seeks the company of Logan Greer. When Logan seems to treat her like crap she decides to ignore him. But ignoring him isn't the easiest thing when they are constantly thrown together. What happens when trying to avoid each other seems hopeless? Read to find out.

This book had a good plot line but fell a little flat for me. I thought the characters could have a little more depth and that the secondary ones should have been more in the book. The book mainly consisted of Margo getting mad at Logan and Logan avoiding her, that's it. The most difficult thing was trying to bypass all the mistakes in the book. Unfortunately this book didn't seem to be edited in anyway. I gave this book 3 stars because it had great promise and I was intrigued with the plot. If the author had spent a little more time editing and developing the characters as well as adding more depth to the storyline, this would have been a 5 star book.

Stained by Ella James

Book Description:

After a fire destroys seventeen-year-old Julia’s home and kills her foster parents, she chases the half-demon responsible across the country and back, determined to avenge her family and discover why a host of celestial baddies want her dead. With Julia is enigmatic hottie - Cayne, who has his own score to settle with the half-demon, and who might be just as dangerous as the creature he and Julia hunt.

Christina's Book Review

First off, I have to say that I enjoyed reading this book!
We start off with Julia coming home to find her house burned down and her "parents" dead. Not wanting to go back into the "system" Julia decides to let everyone believe she is dead along with her parents and turns back on the life she had. While taking shelter in an abandoned warehouse something happens that will change her life forever. The change comes in the format of a Death look alike half demon and Cayne, who happens to literally drop into Julia's warehouse. After healing Cayne with her "special" abilities she notices that the half demon is the one who killed her "parents" and forces Cayne to take her along with him. Along their journey we meet some great secondary characters but you don't get attached to them because they are only a stop on their journey.
As the story progresses we get to learn a little more about the mysterious and totally aloof Cayne as well as learn what Julia is. NO matter how aloof and closed off Cayne is Julia pushes him to open up some and doesn't put up with his crap. What i liked about Julia was her vehemence in getting Cayne to open up and not putting up with his rudeness. I enjoyed their stubbornness and enjoyed watching Cayne finally open up to her. Their relationship was not rushed and was not an insta-love instead it was developed of a need to know from Julia and a bond over wanting to destroy the one person that destroyed both of their lives.
The only reason this got 4 stars was because at times the story seemed to lag a little and because when finally Cayne and Julia to admit their feelings for each other they are separated. :-( But I will be reading Stolen and hoping that we get more Cayne and Julia.
