REVIEW: Pretending He's Mine by Lauren Blakely

Pretending He's Mine (Caught Up In Us, #2)

Once upon a time in New York City, there was a down-on-his-luck actor named Reeve, who was talented and gorgeous in that dreamy, broody sort of way that makes all the women swoon. But show biz is a rough biz – he lost out on a part in a big film, and now his day job hours have been cut too.

What’s a handsome young thing in need of a role to do? Enter Sutton Brenner. She’s sexy and shrewd and the most top-notch casting director there is. She’s this close to landing a coveted gig casting a film based on a best-selling mega-romance novel, but there’s a catch. After one too many transgressions with lovely single ladies, the film’s philandering producer has been put on a short leash by his wife, who’s forbidden him from working with anyone unattached. So the happily single Sutton strikes a pact with Reeve – play the role of her fiancee until she closes the deal, and he’s guaranteed to get an audition for the starring role in the film.

But as the two play pretend, the lines between make-believe and matters of the heart start to blur. Especially after that hot night in the balcony of the Broadway theater. And that scorching afternoon in the stacks of the New York Public Library. Who’s playing who? Or is someone else really the director in the secret affair of their lives?

My Review

“He locked eyes with her and she felt goosebumps on her arms. Then, he dipped in closer, his mouth inches away. 'The one you like best. That's my favorite. My favorite thing is making you feel good.”

Holy crap! Pretending He's Mine was chuck full of HOTNESS!! When I finished reading this book I didn't want to let go!

Reeve is down on his luck when Sutton Brenner decides that he is the perfect person to fulfill the role she needs filled.  Just one week. One week where Reeve will play her fiance and then she will have the job she has always wanted and he will have a chance at a role for a popular movie. One week will not be a problem for Sutton as long as she stays in control of the situation. But with Reeve, there is no such thing as being tamed. He ignites a fire in her that she is not used to letting show. Through every "rehearsal" and every touch Reeve and Sutton are consumed with each other. Both learn to just let go and somewhere during that week hearts are captured, feelings are developed and things get REAL, quickly.

The romance that brews between these two is quick and full of passion. Since it was a quick read and intended to be short I wasn't upset with the instantaneous relationship. It was what it was intended to be. A quick and passionate read. There wasn't an insta-love but an insta-like. The desire they both possessed for each other took over the pages more than anything.

Buy this. Read it. Love it.
