~REVIEW~ Just for Now by Abbi Glines

Just for Now (Sea Breeze, #4) Synopsis

An insatiable attraction heats to the boiling point in this steamy book set in the shore town of Sea Breeze from the author of the white-hot The Vincent Boys.

Preston is one bad boy. And Amanda has harbored a crush on him for forever. When she finally makes her move on him, it does not end well. But still, she can’t resist him. Especially now that he seems to be pursuing her, too.

No one wants wants them to be together. Not Amanda’s brother Marcus, who is on the verge of his marriage to Low, and definitely not any of Preston’s buddies. They know way too much about Preston’s dark side. Even Preston realizes he’s not good enough for someone like her.

But Amanda believes there is more to Preston than his bad boy persona, and she is determined to unearth what he’s hiding behind his seductive blue eyes—secrets that could explain his actions. Secrets Amanda might not be able to forgive.

Yet the dangerous attraction persists...and neither Preston nor Amanda is going to deny it.

~MY REVIEW~

As a fan of the Sea Breeze series I was looking forward to Preston's story. I'm glad that I wasn't disappointed!

Preston is a grade A gigolo. All he cares about is women and booze. He lives his life in secret and has no time to worry about what others think. What you quickly learn is that Preston isn't such a bad guy. Growing up with a terrible family life he had to grow up quickly in order to take care of his brothers and sister. For them he would do anything. Even sell his body to lonely housewives. They know the deal and as long as he can drink away all the memories he is okay. That is until he learns that his best friends sister has been one of those late night "memories" he forgot.

Amanda loves Preston since the moment she laid eyes on him. To her it doesn't matter that he drinks and sleeps his way around town. She is so sure that he is so much more. So being in his arms for a night was okay with her. Even after he treats her like crap and leaves her in the dust. She just can't give up on him. Not even her brother can keep her away from him.

When Preston realizes that Amanda has feelings for him he is resistant at first. To him she deserves so much better. But Preston can't fight the way she drives him crazy and the craving he has for her. So he caves. Amanda turns out to be his strength while dealing with his life's drama. She does not waver in her devotion to him and helps him through the hell he is living.

What Amanda doesn't know is that while she wins Preston's heart, she doesn't have all of him. Not yet. They must deal with a alot to get to where they end up and I must say it was a wonderful journey. One where we get to see the rest of the Sea Breeze gang again and celebrate Low's wedding!

I contemplated giving this one 4.5 stars but I want to tell you why that didn't happen. My issue with this one was that Amanda was the weakest Sea Breeze girl, to date. I'm not used to Abbi's heroine being that way so I was a little frustrated. She barely stood up for herself and she was blindly in love with Preston even after what he did to her. Don't get me wrong I loved Preston too but it wasn't until I realized why he acted the way he did. Loved them together eventually but Amanda started off weak.

Overall, Just For Now is just as wonderful as the rest! We get the same Abbi Glines formula but Preston's story to me was the most realist. He definitely had it worse than the other Sea Breeze gang and pulled at your heartstrings.

Pick this up as well as the previous books!

FAVORITE QUOTES:
“Nothing about this thing we have is a bad thing. I’m not gonna lie about it: I don’t deserve you. I’m sure as hell not good enough for you, but as long as you want me, I’m all yours.”
“Preston pulled me up against his chest and cupped my face in his hands. “I love you. I love you so damn much it consumes me. I don’t deserve you, but I’m gonna become the man who does deserve you. I promise you. I’ll make you proud of me.”I reached up and ran my thumb over his lips. “I am and will always be proud of you. I want the world to know you’re mine.”
“Nothing about this thing we have is a bad thing. I’m not gonna lie about it: I don’t deserve you. I’m sure as hell not good enough for you, but as long as you want me, I’m all yours.”

~REVIEW~ While It Lasts by Abbi Glines

While It Lasts (Sea Breeze, #3) Synopsis

Cage brings his playboy prowess to the countryside as the Sea Breeze hookups continue, from self-published phenomenon Abbi Glines.

Low broke Cage’s heart by getting with Marcus in Because of Low. Cage went into a tailspin that ended in a DUI. In order to salvage his baseball scholarship—the one thing he truly valued besides Low—Cage must take a summer job. At a farm. Away from Sea Breeze. With lots of cows, but no hot girls. Maybe that’s what Cage needs to get back on track.

But wait—there’s that hostile daughter of the farm boss. She’s pretty and occasionally sweet, and there seems to be a lot of sadness and mystery behind her anger. Cage is dying to strip her down—physically and mentally—in the back of the barn. But is he prepared for what will happen afterward?

~MY REVIEW~

“I'd worried that letting her get too close would break me. Unfortunately, I'd worried about that a little too late. Because I was broken. The Cage I was before Eva no longer existed. As much as I didn't want to admit it, I'd fallen in love with her. I'd allowed someone in and she hadn't want me. I hadn't been good enough. I never was.”
Hands down Abbi Glines is the Queen of hot boy, feisty girls, sexy scenes and DRAMA!! While it Lasts upped the ante on all the above!

In the 4th book of the Sea Breeze series we are rewarded with getting Cage’s story. In Because of Low we meet him as Low’s best friend who was a grade A player. Cage did what he wanted when he wanted. He used women for pleasure and then discarded them. In While It Lasts we realize that, like all bad boys, under that playboy exterior there is a wonderful interior.

After being sent to the country in order to save his baseball scholarship Cage has to come to terms with a town where he can’t party and drink and won’t have women thrown around for his pleasure. When his new boss’s daughter belittles him is shocked that his charm doesn’t work on her. Especially because to Cage she is the hottest girl he’s seen. Determined on not letting her upset him, Cage sets about to ignore her but realizes quickly that Eve is not easily ignored. The angry and feisty girl’s personality appeals to everything he is. What he quickly learns is that Eve has a reason to be angry.

Eve is dealt a really sad life when he fiance, Josh, is taken from her. She is bitter and angry at life in general. So when Cage shows up at her father’s farm she is angry with his presence. A man that doesn’t care about anyone but himself is a pity. So she ignores him and just continues grieving.

What both don’t expect is for their mutual dislike for each other to stir something more. A desire to help each other heal and be better versions on themselves. While Cage helps Eve move on he finds that she makes him want to be a better person. But Eve is worried about Cage's reputation and everyone that knows him doesn't make her feel any better about him. She can’t let go of her Josh, not when he was the perfect man.

These two are wonderful people and I could not help but be giddy that they finally ended up together! I can’t wait to read more about them in Sometimes it Lasts, and see what happens with their future. We were also to check in with the former characters and loved seeing a glimpse into their life.

Don’t miss Cage and Eve's story! Also pick up the previous ones!!

Existence by Abbi Glines

Existence (Existence Trilogy, #1)
Book Description:

What happens when you're stalked by Death? You fall in love with him, of course.

Pagan Moore doesn't cheat Death, but instead, falls in love with him.

Seventeen year old Pagan Moore has seen souls her entire life. Once she realized the strangers she often saw walking through walls were not visible to anyone else, she started ignoring them. If she didn't let them know she could see them, then they left her alone. Until she stepped out of her car the first day of school and saw an incredibly sexy guy lounging on a picnic table, watching her with an amused smirk on his face. Problem is, she knows he's dead.

Not only does he not go away when she ignores him, but he does something none of the others have ever done. He speaks. Pagan is fascinated by the soul. What she doesn't realize is that her appointed time to die is drawing near and the wickedly beautiful soul she is falling in love with is not a soul at all.

He is Death and he's about to break all the rules.
Christina's BookReview

“I’m not a man so I do not have a heart that loves as a human does. I’m an immortal god that dwells with supreme power because I hold the keys to Death. But you are my existence. I am yours.”

RECAP

Pagan Moore is believed to be your typical high school girl preoccupied with friends, family, homework, etc. But what people don’t know is that Pagan can see souls. Ones that don’t pay attention to her and she is happy with. That is until one "soul" changes it all. He just refuses to go away and he won’t stay as silent as the other souls. Because he isn’t a soul. He's Death and he's on earth to see his next soul to the other life. Pagan.

What happens when Pagan realizes that the guy she is falling in love isn’t a soul but death? Will she be able to survive or die to be with him?

MY TAKE

Existence is the first book in the trilogy and it quickly hooks you. The whole Death concept was enough to get me to pick this up. But learning about Dank is what kept me coming back for more. Yes he was hot and cold and he earned a scowl from me a couple times but he was just too damn hot to not swoon over. A rock star who is also Death? HOTT! :-)

Pagan I have to say becomes very co-dependent in this book which drives me bonkers. I don’t like a weak female and so I didn’t much care for Pagan. She had no backbone and it was selfish of her to not care about anyone but herself and Dank. I understand the love concept but if she at least considered what she would have to give up, her family and friends, she would have been okay with me. She didn’t so that’s that.

Then there was the whole back and forth with Leif and I just couldn’t anymore. I actually found myself feeling sorry for him.

Anyways, an okay read. The 3.5 rating is because I actually will read the rest of the books to find out what happens next and hope that they get better.

BUY(borrow) it. Read it. Enjoy it.

The Vincent Brothers by Abbi Glines

Book Description:

Fifty Shades of Grey
meets Jenny Han’s Summer series in this sequel to The Vincent Boys, where hot romance is the cure for heartbreak.
Getting a boy to fall head-over-heels in love with you isn’t easy. Especially when he’s been in love with your cousin for as long as you can remember.

Lana has lived her life in her cousin’s shadow. Ashton always made perfect grades, had tons of friends, and looks model-perfect. And she’s always had Sawyer Vincent—the only boy Lana’s ever wanted—wrapped around her finger. But now things are different. Lana has a chance to make Sawyer see her, and she’s taking it. If only he’d get over Ashton—because Lana is sick of second-best.

Sawyer’s heart is broken. He’s lost his best girl to his best friend. And then Lana comes to town. Ashton’s cousin has always been sweet and soft-spoken, but now she’s drop-dead gorgeous as well. Sawyer doesn’t know if Lana can heal his broken heart, but spending time with her might at least make Ashton jealous.

What starts as a carefree fling becomes a lusty game of seduction. Sawyer and Lana may have different motives, but their scintillating hookups are the same kind of steamy. . . .

Christina's BookReview

“When I'm with you, my world is complete. When I touch you, I understand the meaning of life. When I lost you, I completely shattered. You. Own. Me.”

Recap

Sawyer Vincent has just had his heart ripped apart, figuratively. After losing Ashton to his brother, Beau Vincent, Sawyer can’t help but be bitter and angry. Ashton is the love of his life, THE ONE, and Sawyer doesn’t have eyes for no one else. What Sawyer doesn’t realize is that Ashton isn’t his ONE. Will Sawyer finally realize what true love is? Or will he hurt the one person that truly loves him?

Lana McDaniels has always been in love with Sawyer Vincent. After learning that Ashton had broken his heart Lana vows to make Sawyer love her. After a stunning transformation Lana is back in town with one mission in mind: Getting Sawyer Vincent to finally notice her.

Things will be perfect right? Not so much. How do you get someone that is in love with another person fall in love with you?

As Lana tries to show Sawyer that there is a life outside of Ashton she begins to finally see the truth. Lana will never be enough for Sawyer.

Will these two finally get their happily ever after? Or will Sawyer never get over Ashton?

My Take

First, OMG! I LOVED LOVED this book!

Second, don’t read this book until you’ve gotten through The Vincent Boys.

Now, when I read the Vincent Boys I was automatically a fan of Sawyer and was so angry with Beau and Ashton that I gave that book 3 stars. (Check out my review for the reasons why by clicking the link at the end of this review.)  So when I heard that Sawyer was getting his story I was excited! Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to get to it when it was released. Well thanks to Simon Teen, The Vincent Brothers was put on sale and I quickly jumped at it. I read this book in one sitting and didn’t do anything but read. And OMG why did I wait so long??

Sawyer’s story starts off a little while after the breakup with Ashton. He is really torn up about what happened but is trying his hardest to be supportive of his brother’s happiness. But as we all know, getting over your first love isn’t something that happens overnight. We see just how difficult this is for Sawyer which makes your heart hurt for him. We also see him change in ways that makes you angry at him.

Then we are introduced to Lana and you can see that Sawyer has owned her heart for a very long time. Because of that I liked her instantly. I wanted her to succeed in her mission of capturing his heart. I liked her spunk and I liked her tenacity. But, I felt bad for her because she grew up in a really tough situation and then had to feel the same with Sawyer. And even though she didn’t see it, Sawyer was changing and we got to see how much.

Everything these two went through was really tough but I was so happy at the end that I just couldn’t stop feeling giddy.

Let me also take the time to spotlight the other characters in this story. Eric was a great friend and I hope that maybe in the future he will get his own story. Maybe with Jewel?
Jewel although she was crazy and not much in the book, she was a good friend and I liked that she was on Team Sawyer the whole time. Lana’s mother although dense at times developed into a good parent at the end and I liked that about her. Everyone deserves a second chance.
And let’s not forget Beau and Ashton, although they are the cause of Sawyers pain I liked that they tried to understand what he was going through.

Anyways, I don’t have to say anymore but this: PICK THIS UP!! Read The Vincent Boys and then read this! You will LOVE it!

Because of Low by Abbi Glines

Book Description:

In my debut novel, Breathe, Sadie may have fallen in love with the teen rock star, Jax Stone, but readers fell head over heels for Marcus Hardy. This is his story…

Marcus Hardy had hoped to enjoy a year away at college while he put the summer he’d rather forget behind him. But instead, he’s jerked right back to the coastal town of Sea Breeze, Alabama due to a family crisis. His dear ol' dad found himself a girlfriend only a few years older than Marcus. So now his sister needs help dealing with their mother who is mentally falling apart. The only bright spot to returning is the fascinating red head who sleeps over several times a week. The problem is she's sleeping in bed with his new roommate, Cage York.

Willow “Low” Foster needs a place to live. Running to Cage’s apartment every time her sister kicks her out isn’t exactly a long term solution. Juggling her courses at the local community college and a part time job doesn’t produce excess income. But Cage has a new roommate and suddenly sleeping over at her best friend’s apartment isn’t such a bad thing. Not when she gets to see those sexy green eyes of Marcus Hardy’s twinkle when he smiles at her like he wants her there.
Even though Cage seems a little territorial where Low is concerned, Marcus finds time to spend with Low without upsetting his roommate. Cage may use his small college baseball star persona to sleep with every hot female in his path but he’s still under the disillusion that when he’s through sowing his wild oats, he’s going to marry Low. Marcus intends to change that assumption for both Cage and Low. Until his carefully laid plans come crashing down with a revelation he never expected. He’ll have to choose between Low or his family. Because once the truth comes out.... there’s no other choice.

Christina's BookReview
"Things happen in life and you can’t control them. It sucks and you have to move on."

Marcus Hardy is the guy that lost Sadie White to a Rock Star. Leaving Sea Breeze made the heartbreak easier. But Marcus is back in Sea Breeze for good. Not because he wanted it that way. Things would have been easier if he stood away. Unfortunately Marcus didn't get his wish. After dropping out of college for online courses Marcus returns home to deal with a good old fashion family drama. He doesn't have time for anything, other then his family and his classes, including any relationship with a girl.

Willow(Low)Foster has been dealing with her own issues all her life. Growing up with a mother that didn't even care if she existed and a sister that berated her was not easy. Low is used to people she love leaving her. Her only safe haven being her player of a best friend, Cage.

Cage is a playboy. He loves girls, sex and baseball, but Willow is his weak spot. Cage loves her and intends on marrying her someday. Willow assures him that he has false hope because he's like her brother. But Cage doesn't think that.

When Marcus moves in with Cage a series of events unfold. Marcus didn't know that any girl could make him feel the way Willow does. Low didn't expect to feel the way she does around Marcus. Will Low be able to find a safe place with anyone other then Cage? Will Marcus be able to show her she can trust him? Will the two be able to overcome the curve-balls they are thrown? Read and find out.

I was so excited that Marcus would have his own book that I jumped right into it. Marcus Hardy is what dreams are made of. Sweet, loving, caring, considerate and damn Sexy. What isn't there to love? As we all witnessed Marcus was not Sadie's choice in Breathe and it turns out that she isn't. Marcus and Willow are one steamy couple. You can't help but love the time they spend together and smile every time he showers her with love.

Willow is a good girl with a feisty attitude and that makes you instantly like her. I enjoyed seeing her interaction with all the characters. From her love for Cage to her loving adoration for her niece. I liked that even though she had her issues she didn't let anyone stomp on her, except her sister but that was because of her niece. I even liked that she didn't put up with Marcus' crap when he wasn't himself.

Why the 4.5 stars? Even though I enjoyed this book I thought something was missing. I felt like Marcus and Willow bypassed the "bonding" part of their relationship. They did interact but they never trusted each other enough to let each other in on their problems. Not until the end and that was quickly forgiven. Which leads me to Low forgiving Marcus too quickly when the misunderstandings started. And Marcus getting over Sadie so quickly was a bit unrealistic as well. The half star is for Cage because he's just Bad Boy HOTT! :-) Read and you'll see what I mean.

Other then those things Because of Low was a great story of family, love and trust. If you read Breathe and LOVED Marcus, read this! I will be moving on to While it Lasts next to read Cage's story! Great job to Ms. Glines for giving us a shit load of hot male characters to fantasize about! :)

Breathe by Abbi Glines

Book Description:

Sadie White's summer job isn't going to be on the beach life-guarding or working at rental booths like most kids her age. With her single mother's increasing pregnancy and refusal to work, Sadie has to take over her mother's job as a domestic servant for one of the wealthy summer families on a nearby island.

When the family arrives at their summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie hadn't spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house she might have been normal enough to be excited about working for a rock star.

Even though Sadie isn't impressed by Jax's fame, he is drawn to her. Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax but he fights his attraction. Relationships never work in his world and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. By the end of the summer, Jax discovers he can't breathe without Sadie.

Christina's BookReview
“You’re every song I have ever sung. I’ll never let anything hurt you again. For the first time in my life, my dreams aren’t about me.” I lifted my eyes up to meet his, and he smiled. “They’re about you.”

Sadie White isn't your average teenager. She isn't in to all the drama, all the swooning over stars, or making friends. Sadie is a very grown up seventeen year old. Her life consists of taking care of her pregnant mother and worrying about bills and rent. So when summer comes around and schools out, Sadie is forced to go to work to support herself and her mother. She will be taking her mother’s position as a maid in the lush home of Jax Stone, the teenage Rock Superstar. But Sadie only cares about making money to make ends meet not some snobby rich star. She could work for Jax Stone without being affected. Sadie is about to find out that she is being delusional.

Jax Stone isn't everything the public makes him to be out. Jax Stone loves his career but loves going home every summer. He seeks out the quiet and peacefulness found in his hometown of Sea Breeze. Nothing can happen that could change his life during three months, he just needs a break. Jax Stone is about to find out that he is also being delusional.

After Jax and Sadie meet Jax is instantly attracted to the blond hair blue eyes beauty. What makes it so much sweeter is knowing that she isn't affected by his stardom. To the point where she doesn't even listen to his music. With that in mind Jax welcomes the breath of fresh air Sadie brings to his life. As they grow closer and get to know each other more they can't help but be scared of what is happening. They are falling in love but know that they only have three months of being together. Life must go on for Jax after the Summer. There is no place for Sadie in his whirlwind life.

Can these two make it through the summer? Will hearts be broken? Read and find out!

First off let me tell you that I totally devoured this book in hours! Many people criticized this book as cheesy and not so great but I'm glad I didn't listen and read this. Yes Jax totally was cheesy in some parts but he was just perfect. He had me smiling from ear to ear with his beautiful words and protective nature. Jax totally has the melting hearts gig down packed. :-) And just to make you swoon more check out Jax's song to Sadie "Don't Cry" HERE

I enjoyed that Sadie wasn't a blubbering mess of a girl fan but I was upset that she was such a push over. Her mother was a terrible mother and she just took it without protesting. She also seemed to push Marcus and his friend’s away right after Jax showed up and I thought that was rude of her. Totally understood why she wanted to be with Jax and adored him for wanting to be apart of her world but she seemed to only want to be with him ALL the time!

And Marcus, I have to talk about Marcus because he just made this book receive the last 1/2 star in rating. If I adored Jax, then I LOVED Marcus. Talk about sweet, caring, protective and so amazing! Although he wasn’t the one for Sadie he didn’t stop being her best friend. He wanted her to be happy and if her happiness was Jax then he could accept it. I was sad for him but I knew Sadie was not the one for him. I can’t wait to read his story next! :-) A whole book of Marcus is just what is needed after Breathe!

A Marcus quote that just made me love him more: “I used to think he didn’t deserve your love, but now I think he may just be as in love with you as you are with him. I want you to be happy, and if he makes you happy, then that’s all that matters.”

If you want to read a summer romance, pick up Breathe. It is chuck full of romance, sweet quotes and more than two great guys! You will not be disappointed.

The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines

Book Description:

Being the good girl isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Ashton Gray has grown weary of playing the part to please her parents, and to be worthy of the town’s prince charming, Sawyer Vincent. Maybe That’s why she’s found herself spending time with Sawyer’s cousin, Beau, while he’s away for the summer camping with his family. Beau is nothing like her perfect boyfriend. He’s the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, dangerous in ways she’s only day dreamed about, and the one guy she should stay away from.
Beau never envied Sawyer his loving parents, his big nice home, or his position as quarterback. He loves him like a brother. Which is why he's tried everything in his power to keep his distance from Sawyer’s girlfriend. Even if he has loved her since the age of five, Ashton is Sawyer’s girl, so therefore she’s off limits. But when Sawyer leaves for the summer, Ashton, the one girl Beau would move Heaven and Earth for, decides she wants to get into trouble. Stabbing the one person who’s always accepted him and stood by him in the back, is the cost of finally holding Ashton Gray in his arms. Is she worth losing his cousin over?.... Hell Yeah

Christina's BookReview

"I love you. I know the real you too. You think I don't but how easily you forget I was the one who bailed you out of trouble over and over again as kids. I didn't ask the perfect Ashton to be my girlfriend when I was fourteen years old. I asked the only Ash I'd ever known. You changed all on your own. I'm not going to lie. I was proud of the girl you had become. My world was complete. I had the perfect family, perfect girl, perfect future. I let myself forget the other girl you once were."

Ashton Gray, Beau Vincent and Sawyer Vincent are best friends. As they grow and Sawyer decides to take his chances and ask Ashton out, the other Vincent boy stands by with regret. When Sawyer is gone for the summer, the two people he love most are about to commit the worse crime...

I wish I could say I loved this book. I did like it. I think what made me not like this is the fact that Ashton and Beau didn't seem to "love" Sawyer as much as they mentioned. They basically did what they wanted and decided to deal with it whenever Sawyer was back. Although they loved each other they went about it the wrong way. The excuse that Sawyer didn't know the "real" Ash is nothing but a foolish excuse. He did know her, he was the one always bailing her and Beau out of trouble. If she changed it was because she wanted to, he didn't make her. He wasn't at fault for anything and was stabbed in the back by the two people he loved most in the world.

Not to mention that the "rekindling" of Ash and Beau's friendship/relationship was rushed and at times seemed to be all about satisfying Ashton "easy" side. She quickly throws all her morals out the window when she's with Beau instead of finding the line between good vs "bad". To me Ashton seemed selfish throughout the whole book. I didn't find myself feeling sorry for what happened after the revelation.

I liked that Beau was there for her when her world was turned upside down, I appreciated that he helped her find the "real" her. What I didn't like was that he seemed to not care about what his repercussions would be for doing things with his "cousins" girl.

Like I said The Vincent Boys was okay. I'm looking forward to reading about Sawyers story next and think I will enjoy it more then this one. He was wronged here and he deserves his happy ever after.
